Last Call For Surveys!

The last day to make final updates to your order is 9am AEST Friday 18 May, which is only 2 days away. After that, we will lock your reward selections and charge cards for add-on item purchases, pledge upgrades, and pre-orders for Creature Court paperback editions. You can update your shipping address up until we lock addresses for shipping.

If you haven’t answered your survey yet, if you fill out your BackerKit survey or pay for extra shipping after the order due date, we’ll still receive your information but your shipment may be delayed.

(Items like extra enamel pins may not be available if my order to the maker has already been sent out when your late order comes in)

BackerKit surveys last week

Hi all

Thank you so much everyone who has filled in your BackerKit survey already! I have over 90% already complete which is fantastic.

I'll be locking down the survey after one more week, which gives you until 9am next Friday (AEST) to confirm your address and add-on any purchases to your pledge level via the BackerKit survey. You will still be able to change address details later in the year after the survey is locked down -- and please do remember to do this if you have ordered any postable items.

I'm deep into production right now, finishing up the Cabaret of Monsters novella and making felt mice. Super exciting -- I get to see Kathleen's sketches for the first cover this weekend!! I'll let you all have a peek when we know which art direction we're taking.

BackerKit surveys are coming!

Hi all!

It's only been a couple of weeks since the Creature Court Kickstarter closed but I've been so busy working on the next stage of the project.

Soon, you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts - this will be by the end of May.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://creature-court.backerkit.com.

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at https:// [project name].backerkit.com/faq.

Add-ons will include the enamel pins (so you can add as many as you want in all the colours), paperback novella (get one for a friend!), the hardcovers (last chance to order these Kickstarter-exclusive editions), and a small number of customised short stories. I'm also giving you the option to PRE-ORDER PAPERBACKS! 

These more affordable paperback editions, featuring Kathleen's cover art, will be released for sale in 2019 but Backerkit pre-orders will go out first and they're available at a special discount price if you order them now. You can order them as a trilogy or as individual volumes, important for those of you who are 1 paperback short of the original trilogy. 

If you know anyone who wanted to support the Kickstarter but missed out, they will also be able to make purchases on the Backerkit page. Spread the word.

The Creature Court Kickstarter is officially closed!

Whew. That was quite a month.

Thank you all so much for being part of this epic project. I'm so excited that this is basically my job for the rest of the year.

What happens now? Well we have a few quiet weeks while payments are being processed and that sort of thing. Then I'll be sending out Backerkit surveys to get everyone's addresses, enamel pin colour preferences and more.

The Backerkit survey will also be an opportunity for you to upgrade your pledge, or add extra pins/books etc if you wish to do that then. Need an extra copy for your Mum? Want the enamel pins in all the colours? Changed your mind and actually you NEED the hardbacks? That will be your chance.

In the mean time, I will sweep majestically out of your inbox... for now.

This is the Year of the Creature Court, and rewards will be going out in different stages. The schedule for the moment is for the novella to be out to you all by July, and the trilogy by December. The audiobook of Cabaret of Monsters should go out about halfway between those dates. If anything changes, and it looks like there will be slippage with the timetable, I'll let you know. Other rewards will go out as and when they are ready, or as is most efficient for postage purposes... but you should have absolutely everything you pledged for by the end of the year.

On a personal note... this is the twentieth year that I have been a published author. My 'book birthday' is in September. But I've been thinking a lot about my career in 2018, and all the high and low points along the way. It means a lot to have pulled off a project this ambitious, and to have the support of so many backers. Selling the Creature Court trilogy the first time around was one of my biggest career achievements; Kickstarting the return of those books is definitely going on the wall as another.

(There isn't actually a wall. Wait. Should I have a wall?)
